An overnight stay for a group of girls attending a local Gig. Staff, David & Michael are fantastic.Helpful and kind.Our rooms were spotless and newly decorated.Beds were very comfortable with fresh crisp linen. An extra pillow would’ve been welcome.Complimentary tea and coffee in rooms accompanied by a kettle.The breakfast room was light and welcoming.The selection of cereals, tea, coffee and juice was plentiful with a varied option of hot breakfast including full English.The marmalade on the table was so delicious that when we enquired and found out it was homemade by David, we purchased a jar each to take home.Would most definitely return.Thank you.

The hotel was situated in the right place to access all places to visit.Owner and staff were amazing and accommodation was top notch.Breakfast was amazing and very satisfying.110 per cent for this hotel.Will be staying again

Had a lovely 2 night stay,micheal and david were excellent 👌 Micheal's breakfast was delicious and david was speedy in taking g our order and looked after me and my sisterand answered any questions about the isle of wight and also gave good advice on bus travel to our next destination. All in all aa fantastic wee break from friendly people

Once again I’ve had a wonderful stay at the Dorset being there for the Isle of Wight Museum’s Wightrider 24 event. As always Michael and David and the staff are most welcoming and you always receive the personal touch to your stay. My room which was overlooking the road was perfect. Breakfast was good as always and I look forward to returning next May. Cannot fault it’s value for money.

on the whole,really nice. It was a bit of a challenge in theory because it was a working holiday as a support worker. But all went well. Friendly people,lovely cooked breakfast. only snag for me was two very uncomfortable nights because the mattress ended up hurting my back and the one flat pillow wasn't ideal,but on the whole as i said,it was a nice spot. The guy i was supporting really enjoyed it too.

Breakfast good.if you are lactose intolerant or gluten free,you will need to bring your own milk and bread as hotel not supply them. hotel room was warm . location close to town and free parking . enjoyed break.

Agreed an early check in and was able to check in at agreed time. Looked after well with room clean and tidy each day. Very convenient for shops, coast and free parking. Friendly staff.

First impression: The hotel was very welcoming with comfy sofas, a large screen TV and a bar to the side of the reception area. This was a nice space to use when the weather was too wet one evening and we had a good old chat with Angie who works there. The downstairs breakfast room was very pleasant as were the yummy breakfasts which included David's home-made marmalade which we bought as we were leaving. However there was a bit of a drama later as someone hadn't put the top on properly and my other half didn't check either. There was a bit of a sticky mess in my bag but it's all sorted now. The hotel is handy for most things in Ryde including local transport and the sea front. Also just round the corner was the Bus and Coach Museum which (surprisingly) was very interesting. The room we had was a bit small and the mattress was too soft for me but we were told if we had booked into one of the superior rooms we would have got a harder mattress. What an incentive to book again! That, the orange marmalade (with a secure lid) and the really friendly staff of course. We will be back!

We were most impressed with the speed at which cooked breakfasts were delivered to the tables and the standard of the various items, supplies of orange juice, milk, coffee, etc. being frequently topped up when running low.Much nicer than the "breakfast buffet" in other establishments, as all our breakfasts were cooked and served to order.Our beds were warm and comfortable and on a particularly cold, wet day, the heater on the wall "took the chill off".A heated towel rail in the bathroom would have been welcome as towel still wet the next day.Also, we would have liked a rail on which to hang our clothes, as well as a hook on the inside of the room door for our outer coats.The room was spotlessly clean as each day it was serviced.ON A HEALTH & SAFETY NOTE, IT WOULD BE HELPFUL TO HAVE A CENTRAL RAIL ON THE STOPS OUTSIDE THE HOTEL.Once again, this being our 2nd stay with you in 2 years, thank-you so much for your excellent hospitality, to Michael and your staff.With our best wishes,Sue & Dave CockleVanguard Ramblers

Stayed over 10 times before and always made very welcome with comfortable rooms,friendly staff and great breakfasts. Hotel so convenient for buses and trains, with a lovely view of the Solent.

I am based in Ryde but travel widely. My wife has compromised immunity so Dorset Lodge was just what I needed (and may need again) to confirm that I am clear of bugs

I stayed at the Dorset Hotel as a guest of the Isle of Wight Steampunk Festival.The hotel is located on a fairly quiet street, but is only about 10 mins walk from the seafront and main shopping area.Tea and coffee making, TV and ensuite bathroom were all fine.A little smaller than your average chain hotel but with far more character.I enjoyed a traditional english breakfast, cooked to order and served promptly.Plentiful supplies of tea, coffee, juice and cereal on offer too.Toast was provided with excellent home-made marmalade, which is available to purchase, as are decorative candles.I had to arrive late at night but this was no problem as they have a keysafe system.A charming and cosy hotel, would definitely stay there again.

Not only were the staff friendly, and the rooms and breakfast absolutely fine, but we discovered we were staying in Queen Victoria’s foreign office which was great for my husband’s book research, excellent stuff!

I have recently visited the Dorset Hotel with a friend as we planned to have a trip around The Isle of Wight. The Dorset was in a good location for us to get the bus to see local attractions. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast we had was good and filling. The twin room was nice and clean-the only downside was the bathroom was tiny and the shower was either too hot or too cold but these were minor issues. A bonus was that we were able to leave our bags at the hotel on the last day so that we could enjoy another day out. On the whole we had a very enjoyable stay.

I was satisfied with the room and the bed. The bar was fine, the breakfast superb.All the staff members were very friendly and helpful. But most of all I admire your majestic cat. Please send my warm regards to Flossie and cuddle her!

Ideal for short stay with good size car park.Adequate rooms with shower and toilet. Communal lounge and bar. Breakfast facilities are also good.Would recommend for weekend getaway etc.

I always stay at the Dorset when visiting Ryde, the hotel is comfortable, easy to get to from the catamaran, and well-located for the town, seafront and transport links. The cooked breakfast is great and Mike, Wendy and Dave are always friendly.

I was given a warm welcome by the hosts, my room was very comfortable and clean , The hotel is in a good position not too close to the seafront but close enough to walk there or catch a bus which run every 10 minutes the breakfast was very good I would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone wishing to stay there.

We've been staying here for quite a few years now ...we would never stay anywhere else on the island ...room is awesome and the bed is very comfy...breakfast is amazing and the staff are so freindly and can't do enough for you ....all in all it's a awesome place to stay we love it 😀

We spent a lovely few days in Ryde. The hotel has a great location, very friendly hosts and superb breakfast.

Returned for yet another year (and already booked for next). The accommodation is comfortable, cosy & great value.Just a few minutes walk from Ryde Esplanade but far enough away to be peaceful. We rarely make breakfast but when we have it’s been lovely.Be sure to buy some of the home made marmalade, it’s delicious. Staff are friendly and the rooms are kept spick and span. Fresh bottled water daily is a great touch.

Great place to stay for a 3* hotelOwners and staff very obliging, even provided extra black pudding at breakfast time. Ample parking facilities with a great location for Ryde shopping and the promenade.

Well what can i say what a great stay friendly staff clean rooms. The breakfast was great and catered for people dietary needs.The hotel is situated 5 minutes walk from Rydes main shopping street and beach.Good price as well😁

The hotel met our requirements. Parking was easy and very useful. The facilities were not state of the art but adequate. Hospitality, breakfast and staff were excellent. Probably would have had a drink in the bar but it closed about 21.15 so stopped out. Recommended.

My go to place to stay when I visit Ryde. Fantastic location, a wide variety of rooms, friendly and very helpful staff. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Stayed for a week with my brother and a friend, visiting my other brother who lives in Ryde.Room was airy and light, staff friendly and good breakfast. Have stayed several times before and it is still my go-to hotel on the island.A bit noisy from other rooms but not a major problem. Difficult to soundproof a listed building.Even the owner, Fluffy the cat, gave us a warm welcome.

I enjoyed another short stay at The Dorset recently, and have found it to be consistently clean and comfortable. The management and staff are always friendly, helpful and efficient. The Dorset is great value for money, and I feel safe whenever I stay here. As a non-driver, the Dorset is ideally situated, being close to public transport but in a quiet road. Thoroughly recommend!

Great little B&B, we have been visiting for several years. offers a lovely breakfast to set you up for the day rooms are comfortable but latest one given could do with a bit of an update, as dresser was a bit wobbly and therefore did not use.They also offer a ferry booking service for if required.Overall Costs for stay and ferry are usually quite fairWould recommend

Been staying at the Dorset hotel for a few years. Always made welcome, it really is like coming home. Michael and Dave have treated me kindly and nothing is too much trouble. Rooms clean and tidy and some have great views (21 is great). Breakfast is fresh and plentiful. Always leave a happy customer😊

I have holidayed on the IOW for many years, and the Dorset is my go to place, some years visiting twice in the same year. The Staff are always very friendly and helpful, the rooms are lovely and the breakfast superb. I have booked up again for next year, and will do for many years to come :)

An excellent B&B with well appointed room and facilities. Comfortable bed and very clean throughout. Friendly, helpful staff. Delicious breakfast. Good quite position just a short walk from the Esplanade and ferry.

Well given that this was my second visit and a third is planned... I like the people,and love Flossie the cat, my room (19) was lovely (may I have it again?) breakfast is very good (I brought some of David's marmalade home) and the location is handy for both the town and buses to other places. My only 'down ' would be the steps up to the entrances (problem for folk with mobility issues) but then you do get this - and lack of a lift - with old buildings and need to be aware of this. Ask about access when booking, don't moan later.

Close to the Ferry Ports, and all amenities, Dorset House Hotel has been welcoming, comfortable, and served a very good breakfast menu.We would recommend, and return again.Thank you team Dorset :)

I had a great experience at this bed and breakfast. I was greeted by Michael who was very friendly. He told me about breakfast times, showed me my room & let me know that he had upgraded my room. (I had mistakenly booked a room without a private bathroom) He assigned me room 16. It was on the first floor, which I was happy about because I had a giant suitcase but I didn't want to lug up the stairs. The room was nicely decorated, very clean and had a partial view of the water. There was an ensuite bathroom with a shower, toilet & sink. There was a tea kettle, tea, milk & instant coffee in the room. The room itself is super tiny. It just enough room to get around the bed, but fine for me. The bed it's self wasn't the most comfortable. I could feel the springs and they only provided 2 fairly flat pillows. I probably could have asked for more, but it was sufficient for the two nights in of my stay. Breakfast is on the lower floor and is made to order. It came out very quickly and very hot. They even had a vegetarian sausage option. The location is really good. It was about a 20 minute walk from the ferry terminal at the pier. The last few blocks are uphill though. I would definitely recommend staying here if you're on a budget like me!

The Dorset was, as always, friendly, comfortable, clean and excellent value for money. Michael and Dave are superb hosts and we have stayed there many times since 2007. All staff are helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Breakfast is a substantial meal fresh and varied. The hotel is well situated for the beach, train, buses and ferries. A truly great place.

I have just spend four nights at the Dorset Hotel, set in one of the best neighbourhoods in Ryde. My room was delightful with direct access to the garden.The sitting area is large and comfortable. large enough to enjoy television or a book if you prefer.The Staff are attentive and welcoming and the English Cooked Breakfast a joy!I always enjoy my stay at this delightful hotel.

I love staying here. After visiting last year to attend a wedding , I've been twice since. It's been a tricky year for me personally and the Dorset has helped my recovery back to myself because it has a home from home feel here. The staff are kind , it's superb value for money and the breakfasts are delicious. Thankyou everyone for the positive contribution you have made to my life again this trip .

I've had a lovely stay. The room was on the top floor but narrow and steep staircase was not a problem.The checking in was smooth, straightforwand the breakfast in the morning was good. I've had cereal with full English.

We enjoyed our stay at The Dorset. It has a friendly atmosphere, the Staff are friendly and helpful. It is ideally situated for Ryde town centre - a short walk away. Our room was not the biggest but it suited our needs for a short stay. Breakfast was excellent!! The shower was difficult to stabilise and we didn’t fathom out the TV otherwise we were very happy with our stay. It was good value for money.

For about the last 10 years we have regularly visited family on the Island and always stay at the Dorset.It has never let us down and is like returning home!!Although an older building, it is always spotless, has good choices for breakfast & is generally great value. A bonus in Ryde is it has private free parking!

Come over on the Hover.Climbed the hill and we're greeted by friendly staff.We were early and they held our luggage until check in while we traveled to the Isle of Wight Steam Train.After return and check-in, staff gave us recommendations and directions for dinner.Quiet night's rest followed by a delicious full English breakfast.Enjoyable sta.

This is the 2nd time that we have stayed at the Dorset hotel and we were made to feel welcome with the added bonus of putting the radiator on before we arrived so the room was nice and warm. The breakfast is very tasty. The bed was very comfy and we enjoyed our stay.

My room was on the 3rd floor. It was comfortable, clean and warm. Which ticks off everything needed for me in a place to sleep. The hotel, is an older building, with all of the expected charm and architectural niceties. The staff make the stay. Quiet, attentive, friendly and helpful.On my stay I was a part of a business group that were also staying there. Breakfast being the "must" attend meal of the day, it was served with a smile, the occasional joke, and all of the good nature I have come to expect while on the Isle of Wight.Thank you for the enjoyable stay, and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Great place to stay with friendly staff, rooms are well decorated and extremely clean, good breakfast

It is a 3* hotel so it won't be luxurious, but the bed was very comfortable, it was all very clean and Michael could not have been more friendly,helpful or accommodating. Shower not the best as pressure low when used elsewhere. Biggest problem was the noise transferance from adjoining rooms. Breakfast matches the star rating. A pleasant two night stay.

This was a nice clean hotel with comfortable beds and really good value. The staff were great and we requested a slightly later checkout which was no problem and also we couldn't make breakfast as we were out until 10am, so we had sandwiches made for us when we got back that morning. Definitely would recommend.

I travelled to the island during Storm Ciaran, arriving late in the evening. I had been given clear instructions about how to retrieve my room key if reception was closed, and everything was exactly as described. The room had private facilities and a comfortable bed.

Very relaxed but organised hotel in a brilliant location within easy walking distance of town and sea-front.Good breakfast with something for every-one.

I booked as we can see the Isle of Wight from our mainland house but have only visited it a couple of times. Wife's birthday suggested a trip away but due to a recent hip operation, I did not wish to drive. The Dorset Hôtel were offering a deal which included several extras and a premier room all for a very reasonable price. Everyone at the hotel was exceedingly helpful and pleasant whilst the room we had was lovely and big with en suite bathroom all on the ground floor.A handrail on the centre outside access steps would greatly assist people less ambulant.

Having stayed here on a number of occasions, it’s good to be welcomed again as friends. The staff are very accommodating and look to make your stay a good one. The added benefit of a bar is a plus where you can sit and eat take away food while watching the TV. Free parking is all a great benefit and it is an easy walk to the town and esplanade. If you like marmalade this is a place to come. Homemade on the premises and you can buy a jar or two to take home

We stayed with Dave and his wife from 28th September to 1st October 2023.Delighted to have a room with a sea view. Very efficiently served and delicious breakfasts - especially the scrambled eggs!However, the washbasin in our room was a bit on the small side, making filling the kettle for our wake-up cuppas rather awkward. Beds very comfy.

Thank you for our 2 night stay , the staff the loung are and breakfast room were lovely , Michael & Fabe couldn’t be more helpful, the room was very small & basic but very clean , the only comment I would have is the beds are a bit tired , need replacing? We will be back to the IOW we loved it

Warm, comfortable, great breakfasts, quiet, just what I needed.

The usual friendly welcome and service throughout the weekend. This kind of started 3 weeks ago when Iwas the dumb female who phoned to check that I'd actually booked, as I couldn't find the email (as it turned out I'd booked in April!) I'd picked the morning to phone - not an ideal time, what with staff being busy with breakfasts. So belated thanks for patience there too. Room comfy and well-equipped. Great to see Flossie the cat still charming and looking good

Our room was small compact but comfortable with all the usual amenities that you expect. The breakfast was good and served quickly and was hot. The lounge was comfortable with settees to relax in. All in all the Dorset Hotel was comfortable, relaxing and very reasonably priced.

We were made welcome and enjoyed tasty breakfasts here. The place is near to a bustop which made getting around easy.

Although we stayed for only 2 nights, we found the room had everything we needed, and the bed was very comfortable.The breakfast was very enjoyable and a good choice menu. The staff were very obliging and friendly. Thank you.

Good as always,getting more difficult to enter and exit with our tri walkers which is a shame as we love the hotel, and friendly staff. Do not know how much longer we can manage the steps.

Nice bedroom with ensuite, but the sink was rather small!Facilities were good with nice lounge area and bar with friendly service.Breakfast was also good. We will definitely be returning next year.

Well placed with sea front pier and high street a few minutes walk away .Ryde beach is safe and sandy with gently sloping to water. Parking off road at front with large park to rear which has lawn and seating .

This is my second visit to the hotel and I stayed slightly longer this time. The jewel in the crown is the superb value for money for me. A rather tired looking building with many areas that would benefit from refurbishment. The accommodation is basic but adequate for the price. My bed was comfortable. Small things like removing the rusty safety catch on window and some new taps on the basin would improve the look a lot. The location is it's strong point, well situated in Ryde!

Stayed one night. Hotel is pretty well located, basic but clean and well presented. Breakfast was good and overall was what was expected for a three star hotel.

We just spent one night at the Dorset Hotel and couldn't fault the welcome and helpfulness of the staff. We enjoyed the breakfast too. Our room, right at the top of the house, would have benefitted from a refit, but it was quiet and the bed was comfy. Good value overall.

Been visiting this hotel for a few years now, always have a comfortable stay. Enjoy a lovely breakfast every morning, staff always pleasant, friendly and happy to help.Hotel also assists in ferry booking, which can be a great help.

The Room was always clean and Tidy,and the bathroom was always clean & tidy and free when I needed it.

Me and my mother had a great 5 days here and the staff were very helpful especially for my mother who needed help with storing of medication which was stored in the fridge and they got it for her when she needed it and and the breakfast was delicious

This is my fourth stay at the Dorset House Hotel in 6 years. AS always it is an excellent place to stay. The room was excellent as it exceeded my expectations. Good shower, comfortable bed and cleanliness throughout. The breakfasts were well made and excellent service all round. I would recommend Dorset House to friends and would visit again in future.

Micheal, Dave, Wendy and the team offered a warm welcome. Our room was clean and comfortable, it was serviced on a daily basis. Breakfast was cooked to order with self service cereals, tea and coffee. There is a comfortable bar/ lounge to relax in. If you like the marmalade that is served at breakfast, you can order some to take home with you.

In excellent location for buses to get round island. Breakfast was best we have had recently. The room was a little tired but had excellent sleep in very comfortable bed. Secure left luggage facility.

Another stay at the Dorset hotel for the IOW Festival. The hotel is great for our group who travel in and out to the festival each day. Breakfast meets our needs to re-fuel and both Michael & Dave are friendly, helpful along with their team to accommodate our requests.

A very nice b&b Hotel located within easy walking distance of the town centre. The staff were all very pleasant and the breakfast was suitable for all with cereal, hot and cold drinks, full English breakfast and toast. The only downside were the showers which were difficult to obtain a nice temperature and the water pressure was poor.

Hotel owners and staff were friendly and helpful.Our room was clean and tidy, but very small.Breakfast was well cooked and good.Our only downside was the shower was not very good, but overall I would recommend, we enjoyed our stay, it was as we remembered , warm and friendly.

A pleasant hotel in easy walking distance of Ryde Esplanade. The less able bodied need to be aware that it is an uphill climb and the hotel itself has no lift. Friendly staff and excellent breakfast choices. Some rooms need a bit of maintenance.

My stay, as for previous years, was as ever excellent. The staff were brilliant, the food was the same, along with the accommodation. Even the bike parking gave me peace of mind with its security. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Dorset Hotel, IOW to anyone of my friends or family.

The Dorset is staffed by friendly professional people who have a good focus on the comfort and convenience of their guests. Comfy' beds and a breakfast selection that's second to none make for a most enjoyable stay.

I return to Dorset House when I visit the Isle of Wight, because it is always good value for money; clean and comfortable; offers friendly, efficient service and has a warm atmosphere of welcome and safety. Close to bus and railway, but its rooms are quiet havens. The manager and his staff are so helpful and kind. Last but not least: tasty breakfasts!

After looking at web site and seeing the rooms i was disappointed that our room was not so equipt as in the pictures very small for a couple for the price paid but owners welcome was 10/10 and breakfast was a good start for a days adventage and great discount on ferry as it was easter evening meal would on made the trip better due to wife was unable to walk far due to resent heart attack and ryde is very hilly, discount on return visit would be encouraging

Thank you for your feedback, you mention for the price paid. I am not sure what you paid for the buy a gift voucher, we do not normally take vouchers over bank holiday weekends due to the low payment of £17.00 per person for bed and breakfast we receive from the companies. As a bed and breakfast establishment we have never offered evening meals, I am glad you enjoyed the breakfast having received your request for a sea view room we moved you from the room origionally allocated which was larger than the one you occupied. I am pleased we were able to obtain a discounted rate for the return ferry for you especially over Easter.

We booked the Dorset for the final night of our IOW trip after walking the Coastal Path. We were made to feel welcome and the lounge/bar area was really quiet and comfortable. The shower was great - hot and powerful enough, though a little low/small for the taller person. The room was a little tired and dated, but we had a very comfortable night's sleep and the light coming into the room was lovely. Breakfast was also good and ran like a well-oiled machine! The staff were friendly and helpful, and the homemade marmalade was excellent! Good value for money in Ryde!

Great location very clean nice rooms and very friendly staff and owner

We were given a choice of two rooms and chose the one with the sea view. Michael also told us that they had responded to a suggestion I had made the last time we were there.

Good breakfast and good value.Victoria suite worth the extra money but still very good value.Highly recommended over chain hotels like travelodge etc

We really enjoyed our stay here. Hotel has a carpark which is hard to find with most of the other hotels on the Isle of Wight. Breakfast was nice and rooms were reasonably priced.

Great little hotel in the middle of busy Ryde. Perfect location for a boozy weekend as a little 4-5 minute walk to the main highstreet. Great sized rooms, could do with a little paint job to revamp. Great breakfast too to help with sore heads. Quite tight to get to car back at rear but apart from that perfect for a couple of days

The Dorset Hotel is a traditional, comfortable and homely hotel, very conveniently situated in a quiet road, near enough to both the beach and the town centre. Booking a single non-ensuite was a mistake on my part. It was small and unwelcoming. As there was a problem with the door of the room the owner very kindly changed my room to an ensuite, which was much more pleasant and comfortable.The breakfasts were standard. The facility for leaving luggage after check out was good. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

My first time at The Dorset Hotel and I was very pleased. My room was comfortable with all amenities. I was particularly impressed with breakfast which offered a good range and cooked breakfast was fresh and hot, as a cooked breakfast should be. Ample parking available and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would certainly stay there again.

We had a comfortable nights stay at the Dorset Hotel after walking from East Cowes to Ryde. Bed linen and towels were fresh and clean which for me is one of most important things. Yes, the room itself was a little tired and in need of updating, the shower could have been a little hotter and more powerful but ultimately we slept well. A nice, well cooked breakfast and friendly staff. Great value for money.

The Dorset Hotel people were so wonderfully kind and helpful to us US travelers who did not have the ability to call the National Express bus company for a needed schedule change. And so understanding when we forgot to drop our room keys in their basket after we left to catch a ferry. But the Wightlink ferry man at their ticket counter went above and beyond his duties and actually dropped the keys off at the hotel which he said was on his way home! We were so impressed with people of the Isle of Wight as well as the Dorset Hotel where we had a nice twin bed room in a quiet area of the hotel as requested and an excellent breakfast.

My 11th stay in this great B&B. Our large group of ramblers is always made welcome and well catered for. Examples are breakfast times and service, room made in the Reception area for maps, notices. Most of all - friendly and helpful staff. Really good to be back after missing 2021's stay to go to my nieces's wedding in Cornwall.The only slight issue was working the shower so it didn't get too hot, but the onus was on me for not mentioning it. I should also have checked where to leave towels to avoid them being changed daily (soap too). Very grateful though.

The hotel was clean and comfortable and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast room was lovely and bright and the breakfasts were delicious. There was no lift, but we did not need one.

We had a lovely welcome from Wendy, who efficiently checked us in. Our room a double en-suite, was on the 1st floor, thiswas clean and tidy. Michael & Dave have made us very welcome again( this was our 3rd visit). The breakfast was excellent. Our room was serviced daily. There was a good information folder in our room, which we made good use of. The hotel is located within an easy walk of the town centre and the sea front. Well done to Michael, Dave and all of the team for a lovely stay and we’ll see you soon.

An adequate hotel in a lovely location. Breakfast lovely! Urgent jobs for the owner are: 1. sort out the plumbing so that we are not treated to suddenly cold showers and 2. make the fire alarm audible in the owner's accommodation so that he responds immediately, not just when a freezing guest goes and wakes him up at 4am. These could be partly paid for by housemaids being reminded re the protocol on towel replacement.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback, the water pressure in any hotel can vary on the number of persons taking a shower at any one time there were 42 other residents in the hotel on the day you reported your issue with the shower. The freezing guest Johnathan was a member of the famly who responded first but as these have only gone off three times in 24 years he was unable to turn off the alarms so came to fetch me they were audible in the private accommodation. There is a necessity to get dressed first my naked torso is not something you want to see at 4.00 a.m. in the morning. I have discussed the issue with the towels with the housekeeper. I am glad you enjoyed the breakfast and I am pleased that it was not a real fire and pleased that our efficient alarm system protected all of the guests and did the job it was susposed to do.Once again thank you for your feedback and pleased you found the bed and breakfast to be adequate.

We stayed for one night at the Dorset Hotel and found our room to be quiet and comfortable. There were plenty of plug sockets and a full-sized kettle, both of which were handy for us. We found all of the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.

This is our 2nd visit to Dorset hotel and it is like a family reunion. Family style run hotel and comfortable rooms. Breakfast is great and great banter with the staff. The welcome is amazing and we will return again next year. We were at the Car Extravaganza all day for 2 days and for a very reasonable price the hotel did a pack up which to us was more then charged so very reasonable to us. Sandwich, crisps, bit of cake, bit of fruit and a drink. Set us up for the day and well worth it. Once again Thank you guys for making our stay perfect.

We have been staying at the Dorset Hotel for the last 7-8 years to visit family.It is well located for the ferries, town centre and sea front.The rooms are a bit variable as the hotel is grade II listed, some have sea views over the Solent.It is always spotlessly clean, has good private parking, rare in Ryde, and good Wifi in all rooms.The excellent breakfasts are cooked to order.The staff are friendly and helpful.It is always good value for money.

I stay here every year for the scooter rally....the staff are awesome... the hotel is spotless and so are the rooms...very comfortable beds and the room is very spacious .the breakfastis seriously lovely very good and plenty on the plate too ...I have stayed at this hotel now for the past 8 years and I now class micheal and dave as close freinds because of their hospitality....I seriously can not recommend the dorset enough I love it hereif you want a awesome ..comfy ..freindly hotel then book it here ....ive booked yet again number 9 years for me for next year I couldn't imagine staying elsewhere ....100% recommend it .....

We have stayed here many times. Every time has been a really nice experience. The staff are all so friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

Had a brilliant stay at Dorset House Hotel.We were there for a cycle tour of the island and the hotel could not have been more accommodating, as we need to store our eighteen bicycles on the premises.All the rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was just what we needed for a few days cycling on the island.All our group said they would love to come back again.

Had a problem in my room but was rectified immediately with no hesitance, I was extremely happy and grateful with the outcome, and made my stay enjoyable. Thank you to the manager. It was nice to be able to invite non resident friends to joint you for breakfast if you wanted. Overall had a fantastic stay. Thank you all again.

Stayed in room 24 - very clean, comfortable and great value for money. Hotel location superb, very quiet yet 5 minutes from the town centre and Appley beach. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast great, though could possibly do with a few extra options - mushrooms maybe? fried bread? This was my 2nd stay and I would not hesitate to recommend the Dorset to anyone. I will certainly go back. Thank you.

We stayed 3 weeks at the Dorset and felt the staff were friendly, efficient and pleasant. The breakfasts were substantial, hot and the staff always accommodating to our needs. Our room was smaller than we cared for 3 weeks and the shower impossible! The rooms were well maintained daily. I would recommend the Dorset for price, location and fitting the needs of Island visitors.

Basic comfortable rooms. Nice bar area.Nice breakfast room with good selection of food. Only problem was noise from other rooms. Understand it is an old building but the creaking from above was very disturbing. Also people do go on holiday kust to watch tv it seems. My sons rooms had a tv blaring out all night above him (think they must have fallen asleep as did not go off until 8am). Overall very pleasant basic hotel with good breakfast but dont expect a good night sleep unless you are a very deep sleeper.

I was very lucky to be given a voucher for a big birthday that I could use for a two night stay on the Isle of Wight. Me and my husband had never been before so we looked through the hotels available and previous reviews and thought the Dorset Hotel ticked the boxes for a comfortable two night stay.When we arrived we were greeted and given our room key along with hotel information. When we got to our room we were quite surprised at how small it was and the very small hand basin was in the bedroom! When we looked in the en suite bathroom there was a small bath with a Shower over it and a toilet. My husband is over 6 foot tall so it was a bit of a squeeze! The bedroom didn’t have much storage, a wardrobe without doors, one small bedside table with two drawers, another small three drawer unit with welcome tea and coffee facilities on top and a small shelf. The room had a television that could only get BBC channels but we weren’t in the room very long so that didn’t matter to us. The double bed was quite comfortable although the option of another pillow would have been nice! The breakfast included was good although some fresh fruit would have been nice. The hotel has a car park at the rear but it’s a bit tight to get in and out of due to cars parked on the road opposite the entrance/ exit. All in all the staff were very friendly. If we were to stay at this hotel again I would make sure the en suite was totally in the bathroom and the bedroom was a bit bigger.

Very nice stay, room was clean and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and done just as I like it. Close to the sea front, town and travel options if on foot.

Single en-suite room was small but not cramped. Clean and comfortable. I'm not one for cooked breakfasts, but could see that other visitors were enjoying theirs. Choice of cereals. Very nice marmalade!

Clean throughout and comfortable. Good sized lounge/bar area. The bed was comfy and although the room and ensuite were small it was more than adequate! Breakfast was good too!

We stayed for the Isle of Wight festival weekend. The staff were lovely and happy to helpWith any issues. We didn’t have any issues though. They were welcoming and very friendly. What a great location...a short stroll from Ryde pier with transport links very nearby. A comfortable stay, great price, nice breakfast and welcoming hosts. The only slight issue we experienced was the shower was either scalding hot or cold. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

A group of us stayed for 4 nights during the festival. Micheal, Dave and the team are always welcoming and helpful. The rooms are clean, comfy and meet our needs for our entire group. We will be back next year 😎

The Dorset Hotel is ideally situated, was very welcoming with friendly owners & Staff & served an excellent full English Breakfast with plenty of other choices……My room was kept very clean & was serviced both days I was there…… would recommend the Dorset Hotel to anyone who was staying in Ryde & will definitely stay again as excellent value for money.

Couple of days cycling around Chose The Dorset for a good deal including ferry . Helpful staff organising an earlier return ferry . Only downside personally I felt breakfast seemed a bit rushed staff hovering to clear plates etc much as ever finished with them as if they couldn't wait to get finished even though both mornings we were in before 8am

thank you for your review, I am sorry you felt the breakfast was rushed this is not the case at all as we serve until 9.30 a.m. the staff have been trained to ensure breakfast plates are cleared allowing more room on the table for you to consume your toast tea and coffee. I am pleased you used our inclusive package with the ferry offer as this saves considerable money and the bike shed was useful for the storing of bikes after cycling over the island.

We chose Dorset as have been a couple of times before and it was our Golden Wedding Anniversary weekend💙the breakfasts are delicious with lots of options and the staff very friendly.We took the ferry inclusive deal which was very reasonable and would highly recommend.I do so like to have the option of a bath/shower over en-suite for relaxing soak after long day at the beach with grandchildren💖💖💖💖💙 would recommend and stay again.

Lovely small hotel, comfortable and clean room with sea view. All the staff were friendly. Breakfast was delicious and David who served us has been working there for last 20 years was very polite gentleman.Definitely I book again when I visit IOW again.

Good hotel a short walk from Ryde bus & train stations and the Hoverport on a quiet side street. Excellent breakfasts (I'm kicking myself for not remembering to take up the marmalade purchase offer when I checked out - not many places offer home-made marmalade for breakfast, less still let you buy some!) and staff happy to answer questions and advise on restaurants for the evening.Did have a few choice words with the shower each morning, but the hotel is clearly working through a list of refurbishments and I'm sure bathroom refurbs will work their way up!

Slightly dated hotel, polite owner but reception staff not smartly presented and not particularly welcoming. Certainly no "good morning,welcome,how may I help you ". We observed a gentleman arriving in the pouring rain. He was polite and cheerful but was bluntly told he couldn't check in until 2. Bedroom was clean but heater hanging off wall and electric point not working , as I found out when phone not charged in morning.Really annoying as needed it for walking holiday! Breakfast was nice.

Stayed a couple of times, rooms are clean and tidy - but not spacious ! But with little touches of water, tea, coffee chocolate and biscuits. Free parking and easy reach of Ryde without the noise. Staff are helpful and positive with a lovely breakfast. I stay for the location, parking and positive experience which feels like good value.

Very close to the centre of Ryde but still quiet. Bed was comfortable and tea coffee kettle etc in the room. Bathroom was clean.Breakfast was generous. The rooms are a bit small but it is good value.

The Dorset has been my venue of choice for over a decade, it offers cost-effective comfort serviced by discreet professional staff. The choice and quality of their breakfast menu is second to none and the hotel is just half a mile from the Ryde foot-passenger / cyclists ferry.

Prime location for the commute to and from work.Staff were friendly and extremly helpful.my booking had to be extended and it was no problem to the property changing for my needs even making sure i stayed in the same room as to not cause me any disruption.When im over on the isle of wight i will not be staying anywere else.

Once again we stayed at The Dorset Hotel and once again we had a fantastic time. We stayed in a different room this time and was the same quality but this time we had a sea view (wicked) Breakfast is always good, service was excellent. Staff were amazingly friendly.

This was my third stay at The Dorset, and as usual I felt safe and well looked after. Efficient, friendly service at breakfast, in a relaxing atmosphere. Also the food is well cooked and is great value for money. My room was kept spotlessly clean, just like the rest of the establishment. I found the lock on my door difficult to use, but that was likely due to my arthritis!

The hotel is in a really central position situated a few minutes walk from Ryde bus station.The staff are friendly, it is clean and comfortable and offers a lovely choice of breakfast, including a vegetarian full English.The rooms are very clean and provide tea and coffee making facilities.The bed I slept in during my stay was extremely comfortable and I slept soundly every night.I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

We had a warm welcome on arrival. Our room was clean and tidy. The staff were professional, polite and friendly. The breakfast was excellent and Dave’s homemade marmalade was delicious.The hotel is conveniently located in Ryde for the seafront, shops, bars and restaurants. There is a free car park for guests use. We’ve already booked for later in the year.

Excellent location and super friendly staff!! Lots of parking and nothing seems too much trouble for them. I stayed here last weekend after traveling to the IOW to collect a motorcycle.Very warm and welcoming, very clean, comfortable bed and a great breakfast. Many qualities deserve 5 stars - the staff, the breakfast, the cleanliness, free parking .... the shower and heating were also easy to control.It is located within a 15 min walk of Ryde centre, the beach, close to public transport.I am writing about the slightly more pricey 'Premier Double' in which we stayed three days. Some small flaws mainly with the furniture, which were adequate and clean but basic and not necessarily in perfect order - not much desk/table space to eat or write as half of it held the kettle/drinks tray (also had water damaged marks), the tall bathroom cabinet was wobbly, the internet in the room only worked next to the door (although it was very good in the reception and large common living room). It was nevertheless comfortable and well located as a base for visiting IoW.

The owners and staff were friendly, helpful and made our stay a pleasure. The room and public spaces were clean and the breakfast was good.

Every visit is as good as the last, ideal for long weekends visiting my mother.

We stay at the Dorset every year, because we find it convenient, well situated,clean with a friendly atmosphere. Its only a five minute walk to the centre or the sea front, it's also on the major bus route for access to the rest of the island. In my mind you cant fault it.

We booked this based on price and the fact there was secure cycle storage. Initially thinking doesn’t look great as we cycled towardsThe entrance under going decoration and the left side showing remains of building work. ?Checking in simple and easy. Secure storage was a locked shed with metal cycle bars in the shed. Room for 4 cycles?Room was not modern and slightly old fashioned.But it was clean as was the bathroom. Good shower. Bed not huge but comfortable enough. Sheets clean. Perhaps a set of new cushions and bed spread would improve the lookSome noise. But as a town centre hotel so can be expectedBreakfast by allocated hours due to Covid. Restaurant clean and options of various cereals and fruit. With tea and coffee. Normal cooked breakfast options which was hot and sufficient.Walking distance to the town.Staff friendly and helpful

Our friends live in Ryde so we found this Hotel to be the perfect location.A very nice 3 Star hotel. Everything we needed was there. We could have had the room cleaned daily but we didn't bother. Breakfast was really good, best of quality and very hot.We thought the owners were very pleasant and friendly. Will definitely stay when we return to see out friends.The lounge and bar area looked very nice and after checking the drinks menu thought it was very reasonably priced.We could even see the sea from our room which was lovely.

The hotel and staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast excellent. My room (17) had no towel rails,shower door didn't close properly, weak shower flow. As a fan of Classic FM was disappointed that although the channel seemed available on the TV there was no reception. However overall much enjoyed as always.????

I stayed at the Dorset Hotel for one night but I was very impressed with the building as well as with the interior decor and how tidy everything was. I also liked the hotel being located on a quiet street away from all the pubs and the main roads in Ryde and where my room was perfect for a night's stay. The breakfast I had the following morning was excellent and delicious with its attentive staff in charge of my order and the Dorset Hotel is a hotel I will definitely return to whenever I return to the Isle of Wight in the course of my hobbies in the future.

I stayed in a single room without en suite and I was really impressed with how clean and lovely the room was. The bathroom and toilet were near the room so it wasn’t a problem them not being in the room,also there were two to choose from so it was more than sufficient. We would highly recommend this hotel.First time we stayed for three nights. Ourchoice based on location, free parking and reasonable price. The staff is very kind and helpful. They look after their guests very well as we learned from others who stayed many times. We booked a mid-priced room with ensuite bathroom. First we thought it could be noisy being next to the reception and the hotel fully booked, but we were pleasantly surprised. It was quiet during the nights and the time we stayed in the room. The room was nicely decorated, clean with comfortable bed. The towels smelled lovely. We had breakfast at the hotel, which was made for order, so always freshly cooked. The marmalade (made on premises) was delicious. We tried other places before, but I am sure we will come back next year to the Dorset Hotel. Thanks.

I stay at the Dorset regularly when visiting the Isle of Wight, it's a cosy, friendly hotel very close to the centre of Ryde. The room was generally fine though the mattress is probably getting due for replacement. Nice vegetarian breakfast. Great stay and no problems.

Michael and david were so welcoming as we arrived, room was clean and tea and coffee provided. Room was attended to every day unless requested not. Breakfast is lovely with a choice of fruit and cereals, vegetarian option too and the usual full English. There is a bar in reception at very reasonable prices. Ample car parking at front and resr of house. Very friendly and helpful staff, will definitely stay again

Had a wonderful time at the Dorset hotel for the scooter rally 2021.We were in room 36 which is on the 2nd floor, it was lovely & clean, & bed was comfortable.Lovely breakfast in the morning too.Definitely be coming back next year for the scooter rally 2022.Thanks for looking after us.

We were booked for bank holiday but due to my husband getting covid we had to cancel last minute. Michael was very understanding. We will definitely be back in 2022. Very convenient for Ryde town centre and just a few minutes from restaurants as well as transport links (we were exploring on foot so using the train/bus replacement service), a nice airy room and a generous breakfast provided.

Hotel was very convenient with walkable distance to the beach, restaurant and bus stations. The staff at the Dorset were very friendly, our room was on the second floor so it was a bit of a climb, but the views were lovely. Rooms were neat and comfy.

This was everything we expected and more ! Very traditional with a personal touch, nice sitting areas in the back garden and plenty of private parking space. Rooms are well equipped and quiet, the breakfast is excellent with very friendly & helpful staff. 5 minutes walk to the seafront or restaurants in the center of town, what's not to love :-) !

A lovely little hotel in Ryde, very convenient for shops, buses, ferry. Room and breakfast are great value, cleaning of rooms during the stay a bonus (take note Premier Inn!), help yourself to tea, coffee, shower gel etc. makes for a relaxed stay. Owners are friendly, and provided information on the history of the building, which has links to Queen Victoria.

Booked a 6 nights stay at the Dorset Hotel along with my wife, overall an excellent place to stay. Close to town and beaches pubs eateries, the breakfasts were absolutely fantastic included in the price excellent value. Only drawback we were little disappointed with the size of the room although ensuite very small and a little dated.The staff were great the owner who does the breakfast a very nice man. Basically it works out £70 per night so for location and hotel very reasonable so overall very happy customers Dave and Fiona Taylor from Doncaster.

The Dorset hotel has been my accomodation venue of choice for over a decade now. Well maintained and comfortable it is served by discreetly professional staff who have a good focus on customer convenience. The choice offered on their breakfast menu is second to none, and the tariffs compare very favourably with neighboring establichments.

We have just returned home from a 5 night break. Our room was on the second floor at the top of the house which had great views across the Solent. The hotel owners and staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The breakfast was excellent . I have seen reviews which comment on the rooms etc. I would say you get what you pay for, The Dorset can’t be compared to 5 star hotels for decor etc , yes our room was ‘tired’ but it was clean which was my main concern. Fresh clean towels are available as much as you need as is tea and coffee for the room . There is free parking and the hotel us situated in walking distance for all local amenities, restaurants and bars. There is the added bonus of an on-site bar where we sat a couple of nights discussing our day and sharing recommendations of places to visit with the other residents. Over all it was a pleasant stay . Thank you.

On arrival we were greeted warmly and professionally, the room was clean but a little small with not much room to walk around the bed.The shower took a long time to get hot and then was less of a shower and more of a dribble! The bed itself was a small double which would have been comfortable for one person but was a squeeze for two. Breakfast was really good with everything cooked to order and plenty to choose from. Great location, close to the seafront, bus station and the Castle Inn.

Stayed for 5 days in the garden room(flat).Which was very spacious and very clean.We both Loved the breakfast every morning which was a choice of a full English or continental or both.ALL the staff were very friendly and helpful if you needed help to plan your day.The hotel is half way up a slight hill, and very well located for the beach and esplanade.We will definitely be returning.

Our room was small and dated and yes it’s true don’t expect a power shower- however there were far more positives than negatives. They can’t do enough to help you- I needed extra pillows which were brought immediately. I requested soya milk. We bought a take away back and Michael fetched us plates and cutlery. They make you feel at home and indeed it was pleasant sitting in the lounge bar area watching tv with a G&T. As said in title it is in a great spot for both beach and shops. Well done Dorset House you make an effort to please guests and it was much appreciated.

Very good location with free parking for guests, less than 5 minute walk to sandy beach, pubs, restaurants and public transport. The Dorset reception area is nice but the room we stayed in was a bit tired, room was small for a double and not all rooms are en-suite although ours was, bed was clean and comfortable medium to soft mattress, breakfast was fantastic the best breakfast we’ve ever had, we would stay at The Dorset again because for the price, location and definitely for the breakfast it’s good value for money.

The hotel is centrally located in Ryde with excellent access to the town and transport links. The hotel is clean and tidy, the staff are friendly and very accommodating, the breakfast was freshly cooked to order and very nice. The home made marmalade is delicious. We’ll definitely be staying here again.

We had a lovely stay at the Dorset hotel it was lovely and clean rooms could maybe do with a bit of a repaint but other than that they was good rooms. The breakfast was lovely and plenty of it .it is situated in easy reach of the seafront but hill a bit steep.we had a very peaceful and enjoyable stay thank you.

Well-situated and well-appointed, this hotel nevers fails to deliver with nicely-decorated rooms at a reasonable price. The staff are friendly and competent and there is always a hearty breakfast in the morning.We shall be looking forward to our stay in 2022 for the Isle of Wight Randonnee cycling event in early May.

We stayed at The Dorset Hotel for two nights recently as a gift from our daughter. We were met by Dave at the front desk and found him to be professional and friendly, a good start. The room was more than adequate for our two night stay, we found it quiet with a decent bed giving a good night sleep. The breakfasts are cooked by Dave and are more than enough to satisfy most appetites. Coffee, juice and toast are replenished on asking and the serving staff were excellent, friendly and attentive. We would have no problems staying at the Dorset in the future and wiuld like to thank all staff members for their service and wish them all the best for the future.

Well positioned in Ryde, has everything you could wish for, and excellent breakfasts.

We were greeted with friendliness and shown our room.On entering our room the scent of freshly laundered bedding wafted out which was music to my olfactory system. We had use if an outside patio area to have drinks or wait for each other to get ready in the sunshine.The management and staff are excellent. They went out of their way to accommodate myself by allocating one of the shared bathrooms to me as I had mistakenly not booked an ensuite which I require due to health conditionsBudget . Brilliant . Book it

I stayed in the single room, which had ample room to move around and didn’t feel at all pokey like some singles can. Everything was clean and well maintained. COVID safety measures were well thought out with staggered breakfast service and a one-way system during that period. Food was well prepared and with a good service. What I particularly liked was the shed around the back of the property with proper bike hoops which made me feel very secure about my bicycle storage. Only 5 minutes walk to the top of union street (Wetherspoons is near the top) 5 minutes walk down to the waterfront

The hotel was in an ideal location for all that we needed. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again, we had a free upgrade, which was most generous, the room was a good size and quality

We were well looked after as usual. We have stayed here several times and always found the staff very polite and accommodating. They were very conscious of keeping us and the staff safe in these difficult times. Breakfast was excellent and the room comfortable fulfilling our needs. The hotel is well situated. The room was clean. Although it lacked storage space, as it was a short break this did not matter. The shower was AWFUL, needed frequent adjustment.The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and the CO-vid 19 regulations enabled us to feel safe. Plenty of parking space.

I stayed at the Dorset Hotel for one night.The welcome on arrival was warm and inviting.Concise information given re parking, breakfast, location of the room, keys etc.I was shown where the spare tea/coffee/milk/bathroom extras were -plenty there and you could help yourself instead of keep having to ask for extras.The room was airy, exceptionally clean, plenty of wardrobe/drawer space and plenty of soft clean towels. (And chocolates!!!) The bathroom was complete with shampoo, shower gel etc and had a bath which is unusual these days.The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows.Breakfast was plentiful, quick to arrive and hot.The hotel is very quiet at night even though I had the windows open and the road quite busy during the day.Located not far from the sea front and very central for everything.All in all a very enjoyable stay.The staff were polite and kind.Will definitely be returning. We had a fantastic time staying at the Dorset Hotel. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.The room was cosy and clean. We didn't hear other residents moving around considering we were in a room right next to the stairs.They were also very accommodating to my gluten free diet and didn't mind that I took my own cereal down for breakfast.My only downside was the cold water tap in the bathroom didn't have much cold water, sometimes it was even warm.

A nice b&b a short walk from the esplanade.not far from the shopping area & Nightlife.but far enough away for a peaceful stay.easy access to buses all around the island.and if you're lucky you will be greeted by flossy the resident cat.

My room was really comfortable and cosy as well. It was on the first floor and the view from my window was stunning as I could enjoy to see the sea out of my room's window.For breakfast there's a menu provided that guests can choose from and absolutely friendly staff members served myself with a great passion.All the staff members were helpful and kind and the location of the Dorset Hotel close to shops, bus stops and the beach maked the utmost of my stay there.

Lovely comfortable rooms and lounge area. Overnight stay during lockdown to attend a family funeral. We all found our beds comfortabel and the breakfast was lovely. Michael and his staff were very helpful both during the booking process and the stay itself.

Both myself and my friend Paul Wallis who came over to the hotel with me were very happy with the accommodation provided. The rooms were very comfortable, the breakfast was excelleent and the staff friendly and helpful. We would both recommend the hotel to friends and have no hesitation in staying again ourselves.

Our main requirement was secure cycle storage, which the Dorset Hotel has, but we were lucky that this came with great value accommodation and friendly staff.With new Covid-19 lockdowns coming in all the time, we needed to have flexibility if we were forced to cancel late and the staff could not have been more helpful.The accommodation itself was clean and comfortable and better than I’d expect for the cost. The breakfast was good and served quickly, setting us up nicely for a ride around the island. Unfortunately, the 33mph gusts reduced that to a shorter loop of the east of the island, so we will be back next year when the weather is more likely to be kind. We’ll be staying in there Dorset again.Highly recommend.

My stay started with a lovely phone call letting me know that although the staff would be evening for the day shortly, my key would be left in an agreed place and asking what time we wanted breakfast.The entrance to the car park is a little narrow but once parked we got settled in very quickly.The room was spacious and warm with clear instructions about COVID changes.Breakfast was freshly prepared and tasty and the staff were lovely.Additional tea/coffee loo rolls etc were readily available as the rooms weren't being serviced.The location was great for a walk to the seafront or the shops.The hotel is very dated but it was clean and just what we needed for a weekend break.

Much scaled down version of previous visits (4 of us instead of 15+), and a bit later. However,we made good use of the time with some great walks, helped by a better-than-expected bus service, and mainly sunny weather. We were made very welcome by all your staff, and my room was smart and comfortable.B

Very pleasant stay

Great location, shops and bars/eateries just 5 mins walk away. Breakfast was good starter to set you up for the day, always offered extra portions. Room was small but clean. Unfortunately there was a lot of internal noise during the night, I didn’t have one full nights sleep in the 5 we were there for . Creaky floor boards, sound of toilets flushing, hourly on one particular night, we could hear adjacent rooms guests snoring, this was for two nights. Conversations (lengthy) could be heard at 3am and 5am from adjacent rooms also on two nights.I did consider asking to change room butdoubt that would have been allowed and can’t imaginethe noise level would have been much different.

We stayed at the Dorset House Hotel for a week after our holiday abroad had been cancelled. We had a very large room and bathroom on the ground floor. It was very comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast was great, loads to eat and very friendly and helpful service. Our first visit to the IOW and we were impressed.

We had a lovely week staying in this hotel. The Dorset has a lot of plusses, friendly helpful staff, well located, good parking comfortable rooms etc. Staying during the Covid pandemic made it all a little different but we (as so many) were just glad to get away for a short break. The precautions were well implemented and wholly understandable.It was a little awkward, so many stairs, for someone with slight mobility issues and, had I been worse, it might have become impossible. An official disabled parking space or two would help. Also I was disappointed the bar wasn't open in the evening. I hope these are constructive comments but, overall, everything was good.Thank youMoz & Fay

I stayed at the hotel for five nights recently, room wasclean, and tidy, and I had a lovely sea view of ryde ????. The breakfast was nice. But could do with a better choice if you eat healthy rather than just prunes and muesli. Natural yogurt and mixture of fruit and fresh fruit would be great as well. The poached eggs were nice apart from not always being runny. You could eat as much as possible could eat. Staff are friendly and helpful and hotel is in a great location to the town of ryde and would stay again. ????

We chose this hotel because it was the cheapest we could find (and we’re poor students). So we were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful it was. Staff were friendly and accommodating. We immediately felt at home. We accidentally arrived an hour before we were supposed to be allowed to check in but they had cleaned the room already so allowed us to check in early. Due to covid they have breakfast sittings, but we booked the ones we wanted for both mornings straight away. Breakfast was tasty and left us full. The location was fabulous, close to everything in Ryde and multiple bus stops which took us effortlessly to other places around the island.Thank you for making our first time on the Isle of Wight such a pleasure. We’ll be back!

As per other reviews, it is a little tired in places but perfectly serviceable and the good night's sleep and great breakfast made for a very pleasant stay.

Another wonderful stay in our favourite b&b in Ryde. Comfy bed, hot shower, close to all local amenities and sea front. We’ve stayed in a few different rooms over the years, always happy, but the best room we had a few years ago had a dressing table which was great!We asked for a vegan breakfasts and we were not disappointed with it! Full till lunchtime, great quality. Booked for next year! Thank you!

we have been coming here for a good many years now. Its a clean, friendly place to stay. Its a team effort throughout, and it works perfectly. Ideally situated in the quieter part of Ryde.

The Dorset Hotel is well situated, an easy 5 minutes walk down hill (Ryde is all hills!)to the sea, main bus station at Esplanade Station (start point of the Downs Breezer open top bus) and hovercraft terminal (the last commercial operation in Europe) and maybe 8 minutes back - the hill is an easy climb compared to Union Street. 5 minutes see's one in centre of town, book all restaurants in advance. About 8 minutes walk to the Bus and Coach Museum on Park Road - the history of Southern Vectis. The hotel itself is staffed by helpful, friendly staff, the en-suite rooms are well sized with comfortable beds, plenty of hot water and an electric fire if it gets chilly. At present (August 2020) rooms are not serviced unless requested due to covid19. Breakfast is cooked to order - thankfully no self service buffet here. The breakfast was enjoyable. Plenty of car parking either on front of hotel or at the rear. All in all a good place to rest ones weary body.

Had another great stay at The Dorset Hotel. The Covid precautions were taken very seriously so we felt comfortable and safe. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff to accommodate you. Wonderful breakfast and the banter between the staff is wonderful. Dave is so amusing. Looking forward to returning again soon.

I have been using the Dorset hotel for seven years now.It's the same staff, VERY friendly and VERY hospitable.I, unfortunately, had to cancel my trip (with elderly aunt) on two occasions, 1 was a bereavement the second because my aunt had had a bad fall and broken bones in her wrist and was in a lot of pain. The management were superb and it was no bother to them, a full refund for the stay and the ferry, were paid back to my account.I also took one of my service users there for a weeks holiday (I am a live-in carer) She is 90 and had a fall whilst we were there, the staff were excellent. I will recommend this hotel to everyone that wants to go to the Isle of Wight.

we had a nice welcome and a good stay although our room was extremely hot. we had a fan in our room but did not help at all. We did receive another fan much bigger from reception which helped a little but room overall was too hot to bear.

The Dorset has always had a nice atmosphere & is in an ideal location.

Very relaxing holiday break for 5 of us. Great breakfast which was well run and safe. Clean rooms. Very helpful staff.

It seemed different due to the COVID restrictions in place.However, that did not deter from the usual excellent standard of service from Michael and his staff.

We have stayed before and the repeat visit was just as good despite the Covid restrictions. Friendly helpful staff, clean rooms, good breakfast all made it a very pleasant stay. And, of course, there is Flossie, the very friendly cat. We would recommend it to anyone unless they are expecting the Ritz. The building itself is undergoing renovation which will brighten up The rather dull exterior. We will have no hesitation tostay with Michael and his team on our next visit to the island.

We travelled to the IOW a week after the Covid 19 lockdown was lifted and stayed for 8 nights. Michael Baker and his staff took amazing care of us.The room was clean and tidy with plenty of storage. Breakfast included was an option of cereal, fruit juice, tea, coffee or herbal tea. Due to covid the bar and restaurant was closed but we were allowed to bring in our own refreshments. In reception there was a folder for guests to select take away and deliveries from local restaurants.The hotel was undertaking some external renovation but it didn’t interrupt our staycation. The interior could improve with minor interior fittings like bathroom hooks. We also thought our room would have been slightly bigger. On the whole we were happy. Taking into consideration and keeping in line with covid restrictions it was understandable.We would recommend staying at The Dorset Hotel as it’s a great location near the beach, shops, bars and restaurants. Plus the some of the small team had dual duties.

Me and my partner stayed in the Dorset on a short break. The location was superb, mere minutes walk from the Hovercraft terminal and 100m away from the bus stop to Newport and Cowes. The hotel has some great communal space both inside and out with high quality furnishings specifically in the living room. The room was very good and more than sufficient for the purposes of a short break. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable about the island and its attractions. Breakfast was satisfying without being extensive. Overall, very happy with our accommodation.

The stay at the hotel was very good. Staff were very friendly and attentive, hotel was clean, breakfast was very good and always hot when deliverd to the table. The location of the hotel was a 5mins walk to the town centre and the beach. Couldn't fault our stay.

We were there for my Dad's funeral. As always the staff were lovely and caring. Should have been back there last week after a cruise. Hopefully we'll return soon.

We highly recommend this hotel from making the booking to staying in the hotel the customer service has been exceptional. Our rooms were spotlessly clean and the beds very comfortable breakfast was also included in the cost which is very rare nowadays and was delicious.

Accommodation good ,and very friendly staff , good breakfast will definitely come back.

We were a group of 8 on the Island for an 80th Birthday celebration. We all found The Dorset Hotel to be welcoming , warm, comfortable, clean and the staff were friendly but not intrusive. The breakfast was good with plenty of variety of both food and drinks also catering for Vegan diets. We would certainly use The Dorset Hotel on any future visits.

We stayed for a 3 day weekend which changed to four when all ferries were cancelled.This is the 4th time we have stayed at the Dorset visiting family.It is always very clean and welcoming, well positioned for Ryde town & bus station. Breakfast is always good and cooked to order.Will visit again!!Many thanks for re-booking our ferry when they started running again!wehave stayed so often it is like a second home!!

Second time staying at this hotel in three months and both times we really enjoyed our stay.Only here for three nights as part of their winter break offers and it was well worth booking this way!We were given the Victoria suite on the ground floor which was absolutely splendid!Once again it was an extremely comfortable stay and the staff are very polite and friendly and clearly want you to enjoy your stay with them.Breakfast included in the price which is in a lovely room downstairs where you help yourselves to cereal, tea, coffee, juices before they take your order from their menu.Breakfast is cooked fresh each day.Hotel is a two minute walk to Ryde seafront and has its own car park at the rear of the hotel.Overall a rather wonderful stay and we will be staying with them again next year.It will now be the only place we stay at whenever we visit the Island.

My recent weekend stay at the Dorset Hotel was all the better for the good room and facilities plus the friendly people in charge. Excellent breakfast too. Would definitely stay again.

We had a really good 2 night stay at The Dorset Hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble! Rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was lovely - the perfect start to our busy days out and about the Island. :)

When ever we come to the Isle of Wight we would look to stay at the Dorset Hotel. Every one is so friendly and the hotel is so well rin clean and comfortable you couldn't ask for a better place to stay. Value for money...

The Dorset Hotel is an extremely friendly place to stay - with good service in all areas. The Breakfast is very good, and the location ideal.In hindsight, I wish I had chosen the room I have stayed in before (on the second floor), because I found the staircase up to the 3rd floor a bit tricky with my gammy leg!! But the views from the 3rd floor were wonderful !

Having visited The Dorset for a second time, it is and will remain my first option for an enjoyable and relaxing stay on The Isle of Wight. The staff are polite, courteous and always very helpful, and the rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable - ideal for a good nights sleep, before enjoying a delicious cooked breakfast! A highly recommended hotel and already looking forward to my next visit!

Had a great week staying at the Dorset, it’s the perfect location being just a couple of minutes walk from Ryde town centre but far enough away from the noise, plenty of parking which is rare for a B&B, bus stops just down the road so once there you don’t need a car, the Dorset itself is clean and well presented and very friendly and breakfast was always freshly made and hot with great homemade marmalade to put on your toast, the room we were in was right at the top with nice sea views and cleaned with fresh towels every day, we’ve been to the isle of white 6 times before but never stayed in the same B&B but will definitely be back to the Dorset,thanks Pete & Marie Brown( aug 19 )

We stayed here for the bank holiday weekend. This is our 6th stay here and we will continue to stay in future. We love that it’s close to the seafront, the breakfast is great with different choices, cereals fruit and endless supply of toast! Bed was comfy, and we both slept well. We’ve stayed in different rooms here, and although the room was good we were once spoilt by an even bigger room one year which was fantastic!Looking forward to going back again next year. Thanks to all the lovely staff who made our stay perfect! X

The Dorset Hotel is a very reasonably price hotel. If you want plush surroundings then this is not for you, if you want homely comforts with friendly staff who can not do enough for you then this is definitely the place.We travelled with a 94 year-old with reduced mobility, the breakfast room is down stairs so they set a table up in the lounge area.The Breakfast is yummy and the savoury scones and pumpernickel bread is excellent.

Overnight stop with my ten year old granddaughter. Helpful staff and good choice of breakfast. Room was clean and comfortable. Plenty of tea and coffee available for the room.

You get what you pay for!Good price for a place to rest your head near the Hoverport.Clean and satisfactory.Breakfast good value.And was happy to receive my charger posted back to me.

This was the 3rd. visit to the hotel so you must be doing something right !!Hotel well positioned with a car park, comfortable bed and a good breakfast, and of course brilliant weather all made for a very enjoyable break. Good reception team as well.A couple of points though a) When booking I was told that my room would be ready by 14.00 hours - after 15.00would be nearer. b) Could you get the chap in the restaurant just to smile now and again.See you next year.

I have spent just one night; it was a nice stay, the room was clean and comfortable, the staff welcoming and kind. The location is also good, easy to find and not far from the ferry and the buses.

room was a little small and drawer and surface space inadequate for our needs. Otherwise all other things ok.

We've being staying here every year for around 4 years now. Michael, Dave and all the staff will go out of their way to accommodate your needs. Clean, tidy and restful nights sleep followed by a good breakfast. Great location too with sea views. Would recommend and we'll see you allagain next year.

We were given a warm welcome and our room was clean and comfortable.Breakfast was tasty, and we bought some of the delicious home made marmalade they serve in the dining room.

We like the friendly atmosphere of this hotel. We had to take the last available room on this occasion, much smaller than before, but very clean and comfortable bed etc. Only problem was with shower as unable to adjust temperature of water.

A traditional Bed and Breakfast, located in a quiet area of Ryde. Rooms are adequate and there is also a lounge and bar for relaxing in the evening. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Have stayed here on numerous occasions.

Whenever we pop over to the Isle of Wight for the rowing regattas we akways stay at the Dorset Hotel. Its reasonably priced, clean and there's always a friendly welcome from the staff.

This is our second stay at this hotel. It's just so calm and comfortable.. We like the staff. They don't intrude but will ensure our needs are met. Our room was clean, cosy and although at the front of the hotel it was quiet.We always look forward to breakfast when we're on holiday and at this hotel it's never disappointing. With so many hotels to choose from in Ryde we will come back to this one.

Arrived early in the day to welcoming staff. Shown my room and settled in. Used the lovely lounge and enjoyed the warmth of the area. Breakfast was plentiful and served hot! Would stay here in the future.

My friend and I stayed for the purpose of visiting Osbourne house. The rooms were clean, warm and comfortable. Everyone were helpful and friendly and the good breakfast was more than e tough. Great value for money and an ideal location.

Spent two nights visiting friends on the idland and stayed at the Dorset. Lovely little hotel. My room was comfortable and had everything i could need. Pleasantly surprised to even find a hairdryer. Shower was clean and hot, room was clean and bed comfy.The staff were lovelyvery helpful. Breakfas on both mornings was served quickly with no queue. Hot breakfast was very nice and the marmalade is very tasty. All in lovely, great little hotel, well placed for access to shops amd the sea. Would reccommend and stay again.

We have now stayed at the Dorset three times.The Victorian Suite comprising a large period bedroom and bathroom is lovely.The standard of housekeeping is high and the breakfast excellent.

Very cosy, homely, a pleasant change from the big hotel chains, good deal to include car ferry, excellent breakfast.

Hotel was only a short walk after Electric Train ride from Ferry. Our room was clean and the breakfast was lovely. Staff was friendly and we enjoyed the petting the resident kitty.The bus around cost 10 pounds for 24 hrs. Well worth it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay at the Dorset. Accommodation was all we needed but perhaps could be modernised. Choice and quality of breakfast was very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Once again a lovely welcoming stay at the Dorset House for the Beer & Buses weekend. Rooms spotlessly clean, a welcoming smile when we arrived and a breakfast each morning fit for a King.The beds were wonderfully comfortable and we slept like logs all three nights.I would thoroughly recommend a stay at the Dorset to anyone wishing to visit the Isle of Wight. Not only for its convenience for getting almost anywhere on the Island but value for money in terms of accommodation and service.

The Dorset Hotel is a traditional style B&B.An ideal location in Ryde, just away from the main centre, but within walking distance of the main transport interchange.The hotel is comfortable and quiet at night, staff are friendly and welcoming, and service is good.The rooms are over several levels, so there are plenty of stairs to negotiate, but you get some good views over the Solent, as compensation!Have stayed here numerous times.

The Dorset Hotel is in an ideal location for a short stay in Ryde for the independent traveller - close to the train and bus stations and the hoverport and catamaran landing stage. The hotel is comfortable with excellent shower and delicious hot breakfast. We would definitely stay there again.

The bedroom was comfortable and clean and the breakfast fine. Great location too. My only complaint is the thin walls. I could almost hear everything being said in the next door room, TV blaring, etc.

Room was very comfortable for me and my dog and it had a good shower. I appreciated that the Dorset hotel were happy to accept my dog, who is always very well behaved. I would stay again.

Excellent value. A breakfast with lots of choice that sets you up for the day!Staff were extremely helpful and responded straight away to fix any issues. We requested extra pillows and they were delivered immediately. Two of our party had problems with working the shower. Someone came to explain the rather quirky mode of operating it. One said separately that their bed was not very comfortable. All in all most issues solvable were done efficiently. Car parking had limited spaces of about 16 but there was never an issue as always one or two free. So giving it an average overall rating. (5 stars for good value. )
